Ales Analytics Privacy Statement
Last updated: 16 October 2026
Your privacy is important to us. This privacy statement explains the personal data Ales Analytics processes through www.alesanalytics.com, how we process it, and for what purposes.
It applies to this website only. Work carried out for clients is covered by the agreements made for that work.
Personal data we collect
Ales Analytics collects data through this website in three ways: data you give us, data about how the site is used, and questions you ask the site assistant.
- Data you give us. Your name, email address, organisation and message, when you use the contact form, the email box on the contact page, or the form in the site assistant.
- Usage data. The pages you open, how long you stay, how far you scroll, the links and buttons you click, and how quickly pages load. Collected by our own analytics and by Google Analytics, as described below.
- Assistant questions. The questions you ask the site assistant, described under The site assistant.
We do not buy data about you, and we do not combine data from this site with data from other sources.
How we use personal data
- To reply to you. Messages and contact details are used to answer your enquiry and to continue the conversation. We do not add you to a mailing list.
- To improve the website. Usage data tells us which pages are read, which are left early and which routes people take to contact us.
- To keep the site secure. Server logs are used to keep the site available and to detect abuse.
We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Legal bases
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on the following.
| Processing | Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Analytics with cookies | Measuring how the site is used, by us and through Google Analytics. | Consent |
| Measurement without cookies | Counting page views before you answer, with no identifier. | Legitimate interests |
| Messages and enquiries | Replying to you at your request. | Steps before entering into a contract |
| Assistant log | Answering your question and improving the answers. | Legitimate interests |
| Server logs | Security and availability of the site. | Legitimate interests |
Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, with Google consent mode. Consent mode tells Google Analytics what you have chosen, and it adjusts what it does.
- Before you answer. Google Analytics is loaded with analytics and advertising storage set to denied. It sets no cookies and reads none. It sends Google measurements without identifiers, such as that a page was viewed, which Google uses to estimate overall traffic.
- If you accept. Google Analytics sets the _ga cookies listed above and records your visits, including the pages you view, scrolling, clicks on outbound links, downloads and site searches, together with your device type, browser, approximate location and the site that referred you.
- If you decline, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Google Analytics is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google. If it was already loaded, it is stopped and its cookies are deleted.
Advertising features are switched off: Google signals, ad personalisation and all advertising consent types stay disabled whatever you choose. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. You can read how Google uses this data in How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can block Google Analytics on all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Our own analytics
Alongside Google Analytics, this site sends a small set of events to its own server. Each carries the page address, the referring address, your window width, your browser language and the time. After you accept, it also carries the two random identifiers from the cookie table. Our server adds the time received, your browser's user agent string and, if the hosting platform provides it, your country. We do not store your IP address.
| Event | What it records | When |
|---|---|---|
| page_view | A page was opened: its address and title, and the name of the AI assistant that referred you, if any. Before you answer, it is sent without identifiers and with the referring site reduced to its domain. | Every page |
| page_time | How long the page was visible and how far down it you scrolled. | When you leave a page |
| click | The label of a link or button you clicked and where it leads. | On click |
| web_vital | How quickly the page loaded and responded. | When you leave a page |
| enquiry_started | That the contact form was sent. Not its content. | On sending |
Before you answer, only page views are sent, without identifiers. After you decline, or if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is sent.
Your choices
Analytics cookies are off until you accept them, and declining is as easy as accepting. You can change your choice at any time, here or from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we treat it as a refusal and do not show the cookie notice. If you choose to allow analytics on this site, your choice here takes precedence.
Current setting: you have not answered. No analytics cookies are set.
Declining deletes the analytics cookies from your browser at once. You can also change this from at the bottom of every page.
Clearing this site's cookies also resets your choice.
Contact form and email box
When you send the contact form, we receive your name, email address, organisation if given, your message, and the country your connection came from. The message is delivered to our inbox and recorded in our enquiries workbook in Microsoft 365. If our message service cannot be reached, the form opens your own email app with the message prepared, and nothing is sent until you send it.
An email address entered in the email box on the contact page is sent to us in the same way, without analytics identifiers. Both are used only to reply to you, and both are sent whatever you chose about analytics cookies, because you chose to send them.
The site assistant
Ask Ales is an AI assistant, not a person. It answers questions about Ales and this website, using only what is published here, and it says so at the start of every conversation. It can be wrong, and nothing it says is advice about your own situation.
What happens to a question
Your question goes to this site's own server. The server picks the passages of this website that match it, and sends your question, those passages and the last few turns of the conversation to a language model run by Cloudflare (Workers AI) to write the reply. Email addresses and phone numbers are removed first. Under its terms for that service, Cloudflare processes the text to produce the reply and does not keep it or use it to train models. If the model is unavailable, the reply is taken from the website's own text instead, and nothing leaves our server.
Questions about price, about reaching a person, or about the assistant itself are answered by our server from replies we wrote in advance, and are not sent to the model at all.
What we keep, and for how long
For each question: the question with contact details removed, the page you were on, the topic it was filed under, how it was answered, which page the answer pointed to, and any rating you gave it. The question text is deleted after 90 days; the rest is kept for thirteen months, like the site's other usage records, and stored in the same place (see "Where it is stored"). None of it is linked to the analytics identifiers or to your name. Please do not type anything sensitive about yourself or anybody else.
During your visit the conversation is also kept in your browser's session storage, so it follows you from page to page. That is needed for the assistant to work at all, so it does not ask for a cookie decision. It is cleared when you close the tab, or at once when you press the start-again button in the panel.
Talking to the team from the assistant
If you use the form inside the assistant, your name, email, company and the message you wrote are sent to us, stored with our enquiries, and used only to reply to you. The message box starts with the questions you asked; whatever is in the box when you press send is what we receive, and nothing else from the conversation. Ask for it to be deleted at solutions@alesanalytics.com and it will be.
Why we are allowed to
Answering a question you chose to ask, and keeping a short record so the answers get better, is our legitimate interest, and the record is kept small for that reason. A message sent to the team is handled as a step you asked us to take before any agreement.
Storage, transfers and retention
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires a safeguard for international transfers, we rely on the one in the provider's terms, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
| Data | Retention | Afterwards |
|---|---|---|
| Our own usage events | 13 months | Deleted |
| Google Analytics data | 14 months | Deleted by Google |
| Questions asked of the assistant | 90 days | Question text deleted |
| Rest of the assistant log | 13 months | Deleted |
| Messages and enquiries | As long as the conversation continues | Deleted, unless needed for an agreement between us |
You can ask us to delete a message sooner. Cookies expire on the schedule shown in the cookie table.
How to access and control your personal data
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw any consent you gave. Write to solutions@alesanalytics.com. We reply within one month.
- India. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can also nominate another person to exercise your rights, and raise a grievance at the same address.
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. You can complain to the data protection authority where you live, work, or where you believe an infringement took place.
- California and other US states. We do not sell or share personal information, and we honour Global Privacy Control as an opt-out.
Usage data is linked to random identifiers, not to your name or email address, so we may not be able to find it from those details. Declining analytics cookies deletes the identifiers from your browser.
Children
This site is intended for organisations and their staff. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under eighteen. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Every page is served over HTTPS with standard security headers, and the records we keep are accessible only to us. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires it.
Changes to this statement
We update this statement when our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If a change affects what we collect or why, we will ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
How to contact us
